How to put your face in an Instagram Reel

The autopilot takes a link to a public Reel and gives you the same Reel with you in it. You build an avatar from one photo, paste the link, and the product reads the source video — the scenes, the pacing, what happens on screen — before it plans anything. The analysis is free and shown to you as a plan with a price on it, so the first thing you spend is a decision rather than credits.

Five steps, and only the first two are yours

  1. 1

Create your avatar from one photo

Open Avatars and upload a single sharp, well-lit, front-facing photo. That is the whole setup — no filming, no voice recording, no training session. Building an avatar is free; credits are only spent when you generate a video.

  2. 2

Paste the Reel link into the composer

The composer at the top of the page takes a link and nothing else — its placeholder reads "instagram.com/reel/... or tiktok.com/...". Paste a public Reel URL and press Make it. A private or deleted Reel cannot be read, and the form says so rather than failing later.

  3. 3

    Wait out the free analysis

We watch the video rather than read its caption: the scene structure, the movement and the pacing come out of the source itself. This takes roughly 30 to 90 seconds and costs nothing, which is what makes it safe to try a Reel you are not sure about.

  4. 4

    Read the plan, then confirm

The confirmation step shows what we understood, which avatar will be used, the credit cost and an ETA before anything is charged. The buttons are "Looks good — continue" and then "Confirm & Generate" — two deliberate presses, because this is the step that spends credits.

  5. 5

Collect the video and regenerate anything you dislike

A typical multi-scene video is ready in about 25 minutes and lands in your Library as a vertical MP4. The result is not a black box: a single scene can be regenerated on its own, so one bad shot costs one scene's worth of credits rather than the whole video.

What runs under the autopilot

HappyHorse 1.0 Video Edit

Product default

You do not pick this — the autopilot does. It is the model behind the face-replace path, and it is what a narrative, talking-head or lifestyle Reel is routed to.

The trade-off: It is a video edit, so it inherits the source: a shaky, dark or heavily filtered original is a shaky, dark, heavily filtered result with your face in it.

Kling 3.0 Pro Motion Control (standalone)

We tested it

The source is a single-shot dance and you would rather drive it yourself than let the router decide. The Copy a dance tool runs this model directly, and it is the one we kept after comparing motion-transfer models side by side.

The trade-off: Motion transfer copies whole-frame movement, so it is the wrong tool for a Reel with camera cuts — those need the per-scene face-replace path instead.

Specs and credit price →

These picks come from our own side-by-side runs and from what the tools actually default to. The specs and credit prices live on each model's own page and are generated from the catalogue, so they cannot drift out of date here. We do not quote anyone else's review, benchmark or price.

What it costs to follow this guide

Your first video from $0.99

A one-time purchase — 35 credits land in your balance immediately. No subscription, nothing renews, and if a generation fails on our side the credits come back automatically.

What this does not do

  • It does not post to Instagram for you. We never ask for your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube password, never read your DMs and never publish anything for you. You download the file and post it yourself.
  • It does not work from private or deleted Reels — the link has to be publicly viewable.
  • It does not clone the original creator. Their face is not reproduced; yours replaces it.
  • Tools that copy movement or speech out of someone else's video ask you to tick a rights confirmation before the Generate button becomes active. Copying a format is not the same as republishing someone's footage, and that question is yours to answer honestly.
FAQ

Common questions

Do I need to film anything?
No. One photo is the entire setup — there is no camera, no lighting, no editing software and no voice recording session.
How long does a Reel take?
A typical multi-scene video is ready in about 25 minutes. Reading the source is much faster — 30 to 90 seconds — and costs nothing.
Do I have to connect my Instagram account?
We never ask for your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube password, never read your DMs and never publish anything for you. You download the file and post it yourself. We only read the public Reel you paste in.
What does the first one cost?
Your first video from $0.99. A one-time purchase — 35 credits land in your balance immediately. No subscription, nothing renews, and if a generation fails on our side the credits come back automatically.
What if one scene comes out wrong?
Regenerate that scene on its own rather than the whole video — one bad shot costs one scene's worth of credits. If a generation fails on our side the credits go back to your balance automatically — you do not have to ask.
